Cyclic defrost EN And we’ve been quite obsessed with ‘Nostalgie (Akkordeon)’, one of our top pieces this year. Perhaps due to the holistic narrative in such a short amount of time, or the way she handles the mixture of field recordings with acoustic and digital elements, or the juxtaposition of folk traditions with modern explorations in perfect balance. An electronic ode with a hint of tribal wisdom and reverb. ‘Nostalgie’ was developed from the live recording during filming. Text: PARANOID, cyclicdefrost 04/2024

Groove DE Motherboard Na endlich. HUG Mag EN Gudrun Gut on a life at the centre of Berlin subculture .... The musician, DJ and founder of Monika Enterprise reflects on a career defined by revolution and rule-breaking. Gudrun Gut moved to West Berlin in 1975 and was immediately smitten. It was, as she describes it, the alluring smell of “coal and kebabs”. There was also the multicultural liveliness, an antidote to the orderliness of her life in Lower Saxony with its schlager and denialism, all driven by the Wirtschaftswunder. .... Underground England EN EVER HEARD OF… MALARIA! .... An enclave within East Germany, West Berlin residents were exempt from military service, meaning West Berlin became shelter for those on the fringes of society. From the hedonism and squats of one side of the Berlin Wall came a glut of artistic endeavour. ‘Geniale Dilletanten’ (the Brilliant Dilettantes) is a term often affixed to Malaria!, and to the German underground of the early 1980s. Stemming from art school experimentation, ‘Geniale Dilletanten’ pushed creative boundaries against the backdrop of nuclear threat...... April 15, 2021

ARTIKEL, Karl Fluch 12/2018
